Why the Temperature of Your Drinking Water Matters More Than You Think

Share Post

There isn’t just one answer when it comes to the best temperature for drinking water. While staying hydrated is essential for good health, the temperature of the water you drink may also influence your comfort, digestion, and exercise performance.

Here’s something worth remembering: water makes up a substantial proportion of the human body, accounting for roughly 50–60% of body weight in many adults, although the exact amount varies with age, sex, and body composition. In other words, we’re essentially walking reservoirs of water, held together by bones, muscles, and a remarkable collection of organs.

To keep everything functioning properly, we need to replace the water our bodies lose throughout the day. How much we need depends on factors such as our activity levels, the weather, and our overall health. Although general hydration recommendations can provide a useful starting point, there is no single daily target that suits everyone.
