As a result, he will not participate in next week’s show.” During the Tuesday, October 13, episode, Inaba, 58, criticized Chmerkovskiy’s wife, Jenna Johnson, for including an illegal lift in her Super Bowl Night samba with Harry Shum Jr. The two-time mirrorball champ, 32, and Inaba later cleared the air, while Chmerkovskiy took to social media to defend his wife and her dancing prowess by allegedly threatening to slap Inaba via a reference to the infamous physical altercation between Will Smith and comedian Chris Rock at the 2022 Academy Awards. The Ukrainian dance pro issued a public apology to Inaba days later. “In a moment where my instinct was to defend my wife, I made a poor decision to reference a meme to ‘keep my wife’s name’ out of the conversation, without stopping to think through what else that reference could imply, which was genuinely never my intention,” Chmerkovskiy wrote in a Saturday statement shared with Us in the wake of his benching. “Carrie Ann certainly didn’t deserve to get caught in the middle of my bad judgment, and I hate that she was.” He continued at the time, “The last thing I want is to become a distraction from an important week or from the incredible work my dance partner Jenna Dewan is putting in. I’ll be watching and cheering everyone on!!” Neither Inaba, Johnson, Dewan nor Bertsen have further addressed Chmerkovskiy’s one-week suspension from the ballroom. Leavitt held the role for 19 months. Zacharia held it for less than a working week. The 14-minute briefing Her first and only press conference took place on Tuesday. It lasted 14 minutes. She took three questions. She fumbled her words throughout. She looked down at her notes constantly. At one point she confused the words 'husband' and 'president'. The briefing ended abruptly, leaving reporters in the room visibly confused about whether it was actually over. It was everywhere within the hour. Clips of the briefing were shared millions of times across social media. Conservative commentators who would normally defend anyone standing behind that podium could not find a way to spin it. Fox News host Sean Hannity, one of the most reliable Trump allies in media, conducted an interview with Zacharia on Thursday that was openly uncomfortable. Megyn Kelly said she needed 'to present as a serious person'. Former Biden press secretary Jen Psaki compared the performance to a comedy skit. "Maybe this whole White House press secretary thing isn't really for Katie," she said. "It's not for everybody." Within hours of her first appearance, journalists discovered that Zacharia, who had described herself as 'an attorney' and holds a law degree, had never passed the bar exam required to practice law in the United States. She later claimed she had worked as a lawyer in China. That did not settle things. Hannity asked her directly during the Thursday interview: "Why didn't you just say: 'I never practised law'?" By that point, the question was not really about law. It was about whether the person standing in front of the White House press corps to speak on behalf of the president had been honest about her own background before being given the job. The answer appeared to be no, and in a role built entirely on credibility, that was the end of it. The one rule she broke Every press secretary who has held the role for any length of time understands one thing above all else: you are there to deliver the president's message. You are not the message. The moment people are talking about you instead of talking about what you said, the job has stopped working. Zacharia broke that rule on her first day. By Tuesday afternoon, every news outlet in the country was running stories about her performance rather than anything the White House was trying to communicate. By Wednesday, her legal credentials were the lead story. By Thursday, Sean Hannity was grilling her on Fox News about why she had called herself an attorney. By Friday, she was out. Every question at her next briefing would have been about her. Every clip would have been about the fumbles, the confusion, the bar exam. She would have been a permanent distraction standing at the podium of the most visible communications role in the world. There was no recovering from that. Leavitt has already landed her first role since leaving the White House and remains close to the Trump operation. Her departure was orderly. Zacharia's was not. Scaramucci, who knows what it feels like, offered Zacharia some advice on X. "Speaking as the world's leading expert on short White House tenures: turn off the news and go enjoy your family. In time you'll realize that the Universe did you a major favor." What happens now Trump told Fox News he is 'not in a hurry' to fill the role. No replacement has been announced. That leaves the White House without a press secretary 17 days before the midterms, in the middle of a war with Iran, with three separate payment promises in play and an approval rating that has been declining since the summer. Zacharia posted on X after her departure that it had been 'an honour' to work for Trump, calling him 'a kind, wonderful, gracious, thoughtful, enthusiastic, and hardworking man'. She held the job for five days. She gave one briefing. She took three questions. And she broke the one rule that matters more than any other in that role: she made the whole thing about herself. Annabel Richter's Tragic NYC Journey Sparks Heartfelt Reactions

Fashion Institute of Technology student Annabel Richter bravely moved thousands of miles away from home to chase her dreams alone in Gotham, a shattered family friend told The Post, but her courageous solo journey was cut short by a twisted predator who allegedly drugged her and then raped her while she was dying from a fentanyl overdose.Prosecutors say Moises Freire, 19, drugged Richter, 21, and her roommate inside their Chelsea dorm in March. Instagram/Flavia RochaBoth unconscious women were eventually rushed to the hospital but only the roommate survived.“She struck me as very sweet and kind,” Christina Perez, a longtime friend of Richter’s grandmother, told The Post Friday. “She was very bright.”Perez said Richter’s entire family was living in Sao Paulo, Brazil, except her grandmother, who lives in Washington state, when she went to college.“She wanted to go to New York,” Perez said. “The idea worried me a bit because she didn’t have anyone there — her family was still in Brazil.”The grandmother, Virginia “Gini” Richter, is in shambles and “suffering a great deal” since the horrific death.She said the rest of Richter’s family came to the states for her memorial service in Portland, Ore. Richter’s mother Flavia Rocha, a Brazilian poet and journalist, shared a tear-jerking tribute to her daughter on Instagram a few days after she died.“It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our daughter Annabel, so dearly loved by all of us. Her light remains alive in our hearts. Forever,” she wrote.Her whole family was in Brazil, except her grandmother, when she went to FIT. I hope that Annabel’s story brings awareness, and meets justice,” the heartbroken mother previously told The Post.Freire allegedly told the women he was bringing them cocaine from Mexico — even after he’d tried the fentanyl a week earlier and likened it to “poison” in a text to a friend, according to shocking court papers unsealed Thursday.Freire, who was not an FIT student, allegedly gave both victims the dangerous drug in their dorm room on March 18. It’s not clear how Richter and her roommate knew Freire.Richter believed she was taking cocaine, prosecutors said. Instagram/Flavia RochaHe then raped Richter while she was unconscious, prosecutors say, and allegedly waited 45 minutes before calling campus security. First responders gave them both Narcan before rushing them to the hospital.Freire also allegedly took photos of Richter while she was knocked out and naked from the waist down to share with his friends. He also lied to campus security that the two women were unconscious because they simply had too much to drink — and claimed that he’d somehow not noticed that his victim was passed out until after he was finished having sex with her, prosecutors say.“It is truly hard to believe that the defendant, who seemed entirely coherent and sober at the time, who didn’t have any of the substance, who is captured on the security guard’s body-worn camera seeming coherent and sober, didn’t know what was going on when he was having sex with the victim who was completely unconscious,” prosecutor Ariana Bloom said at an April court hearing.Freire’s friend, Brian Peralta Cabrera, 18, of Queens, was separately hit with narcotics conspiracy charges for alleging helping Freire get the lethal fentanyl.Freire and Peralta Cabrera were first arrested in March. They pleaded not guilty to an initial set of charges that did not include the rape allegation and remain in custody. Freire is due back in court Oct. 28 to be arraigned on upgraded charges of distributing a controlled substance with the intent to commit rape, along with other narcotics charges. He faces a minimum of 20 years in prison, and a maximum of life if convicted.A third man, Harry Rosales Pino, has pleaded guilty to narcotics distribution resulting in death.
