Linda's Age Riddle: The Clever Math Puzzle Everyone's Talking About New

Linda's Age Riddle: The Clever Math Puzzle Everyone's Talking About

Have you ever met someone who loves to answer simple questions with a fun math puzzle? That is exactly what happened when Linda was asked a very basic question about her age.Instead of just saying a plain number, she gave a clever mathematical expression. She said her age is equal to 15 + (8 – 3) * 2.At first glance, this riddle looks like a short and simple mystery. However, solving it requires us to follow a very fundamental rule in basic math.Let us step into this fun challenge and find out how old Linda really is.Understanding the Rule: Order of OperationsTo solve Linda’s age puzzle, we cannot just calculate the numbers from left to right. If we work from left to right without thinking, we will definitely get the wrong answer. In mathematics, there is an important guideline called the Order of Operations. Many people remember this basic standard by the simple acronym known as PEMDAS.PEMDAS stands for Parentheses, Exponents, Multiplication and Division, Addition and Subtraction. This special order tells us exactly which part of the equation must be solved first.By following these logical steps, we ensure that our final result is completely accurate.Step 1: Focus on the Parentheses FirstAccording to our math rules, the very first step is to look inside the parentheses. In Linda’s expression, we clearly see the small equation inside the brackets: (8 – 3).This part of the calculation is very simple and easy to do.We simply subtract 3 from 8, which gives us a result of 5.Now, we can rewrite the entire math expression with this new simplified value. The original equation now transforms into 15 + 5 * 2.We have successfully completed the first step of our logical journey.Step 2: Do the Multiplication Before AdditionNow we are left with two operations: addition and multiplication.Looking back at the PEMDAS rule, multiplication always comes before addition. Therefore, we must multiply 5 by 2 before we add the number 15.Let us multiply 5 by 2, which easily equals 10.Our expression is now much simpler than when we first started. It now becomes a straightforward calculation: 15 + 10.We are just one tiny step away from discovering Linda’s true age.Step 3: Perform the Final AdditionThe last remaining step in our calculation is very simple addition. We just need to add 15 and 10 together. When we add 15 to 10, we get the final result of 25.Through clear logic and order of operations, the entire puzzle is now solved. Conclusion: Solving the PuzzleBy carefully following the Order of Operations, we solved Linda’s clever math riddle step by step.First, we calculated (8 – 3) inside the parentheses to get 5.Next, we multiplied 5 by 2 to get 10.Finally, we added 15 to 10 to arrive at the number 25.Therefore, Linda is exactly 25 years old today!

Why Apple's iPhone Duo Delays Are Driving Fans Crazy New

Why Apple's iPhone Duo Delays Are Driving Fans Crazy

See more of our coverage in your search results. It’s been post-Phoned!Apple fans were outraged after their iPhone Duo orders were postponed until as late as next year amid a preorder frenzy. The tech titan’s first-ever foldable phone — which starts at $1,999 — sold out within minutes after it became available for preorder on October 16 at 8am EST. While the first buyers’ delivery dates coincided with the product’s launch on October 23, those who waited just minutes later had their arrival times delayed until the winter. Bloomberg via Getty ImagesAs of 8:30, Apple’s US store displayed delivery dates of late January for every single configuration of the accessory, encompassing both colors and all four storage options from 256GB up to 2TB.Suffice it to say, buyers weren’t pleased with the new shipping estimates. “iPhone Duo won’t deliver until January 25th 2027?” spluttered one flabbergasted apple customer on X alongside a screenshot of their order screen.“iPhone Duo pre-orders were insane!” lamented another techhead in an X post addressed to Apple’s new CEO John Ternus, who took over in September. “I pre-booked everything and in 2s my date slipped to early November. Tried the 1TB and 2TB models too and everything is now late Nov-early Dec.” They added, “Sorry guys but this is likely going to be the first time ever that we won’t have an iPhone on launch day.“Posting iPhone Duo because apparently this is like winning the lottery with preorders now shipping in late January 2027,” griped a third. REUTERSOne disillusioned phone fan claimed that their order was postponed even though they ordered early. In a play-by-play of the fiasco, the user said that they logged on at 8:03 — 3 minutes after launch — but got stuck on the ‘we love that early energy’ screen. When they finally managed to get in a minute later, they saw that their Duo wasn’t shipping until November 2nd, so they selected the only “available store that had a pickup option on Oct 23rd (release day).”Unfortunately, a minute later, they learned that said outlet was unavailable and their delivery was now estimated to arrive between Nov 23rd and December 1st. “The iPhone Duo hype is real,” they said. One angry social media user said that their order was pushed back until December even though they “set up the preorder 2 weeks ago.” Despite logging onto the Apple Store app “the moment it opened,” it reportedly glitched out and they couldn’t press buy.Among other features, the passport-like iPhone Duo boasts a 7.6-inch inner screen — 80% larger than the iPhone 18 Pro’s screen when folded out — alongside a 5.4-inch outer screen.Despite the multitude of screens, the titanium gadget clocks in at just a dynamic weight of just over half a pound and folds down to just over 3 inches like technological origami.Speaking at Apple’s Cupertino, Calif., HQ, Ternus said that while foldable phones feel like “two phones awkwardly stuck together,” the Duo’s crease becomes effectively invisible when it’s closed.Analysts have claimed that the new device could help usher foldable phones into the mainstream, mirroring its influence on smartwatches and wireless earbuds.

One month after Pelphrey proposed in 2024, Cuoco teased to People that a second baby would likely come before they tie the knot. “We're gonna go way out of order. That’s our plan,” she told the outlet.

Natalie Maines Sparks Controversy with Bold Criticism of Trump New

Natalie Maines Sparks Controversy with Bold Criticism of Trump

The White House is reacting to Natalie Maines’ recent criticism of President Donald Trump at The Chicks concert. “Natalie Maines is a despicable nobody who clearly suffers from a severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome that has completely rotted her peanut-sized brain,” White House spokesman Davis Ingle told Us on Thursday, October 15. The statement comes after Maines, 52, kicked off The Chicks' anniversary tour with bandmates Emily Strayer and Martie Maguire for Taking the Long Way in New York City this week. During the show, which was attended by Billboard, a vintage video montage of political pundits and everyday folk freaking out over someone criticizing a sitting president played. Maines, who was also outspoken in her criticism of former President George W. Bush, said she will “never” submit to the “shut up and sing” brigade. “We thought that was the worst it could get,” she recalled of 2003. “Now I’d give George W. Bush a big wet kiss ‘cause now we’re ashamed the president of the United States is from the United States.” Taking the Long Way came out 20 years ago after Maines criticized Bush, 80, for invading Iraq over claims that the country possessed weapons of mass destruction. “We’re ashamed the president of the United States is from Texas,” Maines said at a London concert in March 2003. As a result of her words, country radio stations stopped playing The Chicks’ hit singles and conservative media pundits slammed their remarks. The controversy, however, inspired even bigger hits, including “Not Ready to Make Nice” and “Easy Silence.” "To me, I was right from the beginning, because it's my right as an American to speak up and question our president, have my point of view, have my opinion, question what I want to question and say what I want to say about our government," Maines previously told Us in April 2013. “It's very scary to me that people actually think we should just follow our leaders. If we can't learn from our history, we're nowhere." The Grammy winner continued, “My point I try to make about that is it's not a thing I wanted to be right about. It's not a good 'I told ya so' with all these people losing their lives. War is horrible." In May, Maines made headlines for calling out Trump’s policies during his second term in office. In an Instagram post, she called the commander in chief a “fugly slut” and warned fans that “our democracy is disappearing right before our eyes.”

Why This Optical Illusion is Dividing the Internet New

Why This Optical Illusion is Dividing the Internet

Have you ever looked at a picture and felt like your brain was playing tricks on you? Take a close look at this optical illusion: Is this woman facing forward or looking sideways? At first glance, your brain instantly chooses one perspective. But here is the secret: both answers are totally valid! How you see her actually reveals a lot about how your brain processes visual details, shadows, and perspective.Option 1: She is Facing Forward (Front View)If your first thought was “She’s looking right at me!”, you aren’t alone! Here is the logic behind why your brain sees a front-facing portrait:The Full Eye: Look at the eye—it is wide open, showing a clear pupil, iris, and eyelid shape that we normally see when someone looks straight ahead. The Lips and Chin: Her lips and chin are full and centered relative to the shadow, creating the classic balance of a front profile.Brain Logic: Humans are naturally hardwired to recognize faces. When we see a full, detailed eye looking directly at us, our brains prioritize that eye-contact signal and declare: “She is looking straight forward!”Option 2: She is Looking Sideways (Profile View)Now, take a second look. Can you see her looking to the right? If you saw a side profile first, your brain picked up on these visual cues:The Outline of the Nose: The right side of the image forms a sharp, distinct silhouette of a nose and chin facing to the side. The Ear and Hairline: On the left side, you can clearly see her ear positioned behind her hair, which makes logical sense only if her head is turned. The Shadow Trick: The deep shadows on the right side of her face act as a background contrast, outlining a side profile effortlessly. So, What Does This Reveal About You?Don’t worry, there is no wrong answer here!If you saw her facing forward, you might be someone who focuses on central details, human connection, and big picture features (like eye contact). If you saw her looking sideways, you are likely an observant person who notices outlines, shadows, and subtle spatial cues before putting the whole image together. And if you can jump back and forth between both views? Congratulations! Your brain is remarkably flexible at switching perspectives.Next time you encounter a tricky picture—or even a tricky situation in life—remember this image: sometimes, two completely different viewpoints can both be right at the same time!Which one did you see first? Share this with a friend and test their brain today!

The Shocking Secret My Husband Kept for 18 Years New

The Shocking Secret My Husband Kept for 18 Years

After my husband discovered my affair, he never touched me again. For 18 years, we lived under the same roof like strangers until a routine exam after my retirement made my doctor ask about a sur:gery I had no memory of. When I confronted my husband, his face changed. Then he unlocked a filing cabinet he had kept closed for nearly 2 decades and said, “There’s something I should have told you a long time ago.”When Thomas discovered my affair, he placed a printed email beside my breakfast plate.“How long?”“4 months.”He glanced toward the stairs, where our 14-year-old son, Ethan, was getting ready for school. Then he left for work. There was no shouting. Thomas continued paying bills, repairing things, and attending school events. He simply withdrew from me.I had betrayed him. For years afterward, I used that fact to explain everything I accepted. The affair had begun when a man calling himself Julian Reed offered to help me understand statements from my late father’s trust.I had been questioning unexplained expenses. Julian seemed knowledgeable, patient, and interested in what I had to say. Eventually, I confused his attention with love.None of that excused my choices. When Thomas found out, Julian disappeared. His phone stopped working, and the office where we sometimes met was emptied.Already struggling with depression, I deteriorated rapidly. During a severe crisis that spring, I took an over::dose.Thomas found me.My memories of the hospital were fragmented: a white ceiling, a psychiatrist’s gentle questions, small dressings on my abdomen.Thomas told me the doctors had discovered internal blee::ding and performed an emergency procedure.“Did the medication cause it?”“They dealt with everything,” he said. “You need to concentrate on getting better.”When I asked about the incisions, he repeated that they had needed to look inside my abdomen.I was exhausted and ashamed. I accepted that incomplete explanation. He handled my discharge papers and appointments. I continued psychiatric treatment, but the surgical follow-up disappeared among rescheduled visits and conflicting instructions. At home, he moved my belongings into the guest bedroom.“You’ll rest better here.”I remained there for 18 years. Our son grew up. Holidays became performances. Thomas never openly insulted me, but he stepped aside in the hallway rather than risk brushing against my arm.Once, Ethan asked why his father never kissed me.“Marriage changes,” I said.He looked away. Even at 14, he knew that wasn’t an answer. There had been a time when Thomas and I could hardly bear to be apart. We had spent years trying to have Ethan. Fertility treatment finally gave us our son, and several em::bryos remained in storage. We kept paying the fees, hoping we might try again.Eventually, in 2007, we signed instructions for their disposal. It was a painful decision, but we believed that chapter had ended.By June 2026, when I retired at 63, I rarely thought about those years. Then a persistent pressure in my lower abdomen sent me to Dr. Leah Sutton. The ultrasound led to further assessment of a small cyst. Her questions about my surgical history led somewhere else entirely.“An ultrasound cannot tell me everything that happened years ago,” she explained. “I need the operative report.”I went home and asked Thomas for it.His expression changed before he spoke.“Why are they asking about that?”“Because I don’t know what was done to me.”“You were very ill.”“What operation did I have?”He looked toward the window.“Nora—”“Get the records.”For once, I didn’t soften my voice to make the conversation easier for him.The folder was in his locked filing cabinet.Inside was a report describing emergency surgery for a rup::tured ec::topic pregnancy.I stared at the word.Pregnancy.“I was pregnant?”Thomas nodded.Dr. Sutton returned my call that afternoon. After hearing the wording, she explained that the pregnancy had developed outside the ute::rus and caused dangerous internal blee::ding. The affected fallo::pian tube had been removed.“The surgery described here was lifesaving,” she said. “We’ll obtain the complete record and review it together.”“Could the pregnancy have sur::vived?”“No, Nora. Not the pregnancy described in that report.”After we hung up, I sat opposite Thomas.“Was it yours?”“I don’t know.”Neither did I.His signature appeared on a form identifying him as my spouse. He hadn’t for:ged mine or requested an unnecessary procedure. The emergency had been real. The concealment had come afterward.“You were confused in the hospital,” he said. “They planned to explain it again when you were stronger.”“And when I asked you?”“I thought you couldn’t bear anything else.”“For 18 years?”He said nothing. As I lifted the folder, an envelope slipped from the back.Inside was a photograph of Ethan outside his school. On the reverse, someone had written:Stop asking questions. You still have a son to lo::se.“Who sent this?”“The man you knew as Julian.”I looked up.“His real name was Grant Voss,” Thomas said. “I hired an investigator after you went into the hospital. I wanted to find him.”“And?”“He worked for Dr. Edwin Kessler.”I knew that name well.Kessler had overseen our fertility treatment. He was also an old business associate of my father’s. After my father died in 2006, he became a trustee responsible for overseeing distributions from the family trust.Grant handled its accounts.“The investigator linked them,” Thomas continued. “When I confronted Grant, he told me to leave the trust alone. Then that photograph arrived.”I remembered Julian offering to take confusing statements off my hands.Offering to draft letters.Telling me there was no reason to trouble Thomas with financial details I was still trying to understand.“What were they hiding?”Thomas rubbed his palms against his trousers.“At first, I thought it was only money.”“At first?”He opened the cabinet again. This time, he brought out a photograph of a baby and a copy of an em::bryo-do:nation authorization. Our names were on it.The signatures resembled ours. But neither belonged to us.“We authorized disposal,” I whispered.“I know.”He pushed the photograph toward me. A name and birth date were written on the back.Lucy Kessler. October 2008.I looked from the baby to the document.“No. The pregnancy—”“This isn’t about that pregnancy.”Then I understood what he was suggesting. The em::bryos.The ones we believed no longer existed.I called Ethan.“I need you here,” I said. “Your father has something to explain, and I don’t want to hear it alone.”He arrived within 40 minutes.Thomas told us that an unsigned envelope had reached his office in 2009. It contained the copied authorization, an em::bryo-storage reference number, and the baby photograph. The accompanying note warned that Kessler’s daughter might be our biological child.“I confronted Kessler,” Thomas said. “He called it an ex::tortion attempt. Then Grant contacted me again.”Thomas produced more envelopes. One contained a photograph of Ethan outside his university residence. Another, dated 2015, showed the address of his first apartment.Kessler had died in 2014.Grant had made it clear that the threats had not died with him.“Why didn’t you go to the police?” Ethan asked.“I should have.”“That isn’t an explanation.”“I was afraid. And later, I was afraid of explaining why I had waited.”Ethan stood and walked to the window. For years, I had mistaken his father’s silence for control. Now I could see the fear beneath it.But fear did not explain everything.“Not touching me didn’t protect Ethan,” I said.Thomas’s eyes filled.“No.”“Then why?”“At first, I wanted you to hurt.”The room went quiet.“Later, I didn’t know how to face you without telling you everything.”I looked at the documents spread across the table.“You let my guilt do the work for you.”He did not deny it.The following morning, Ethan drove me to an attorney named Alice Rowan. She helped us preserve the documents, report the threats, and request a formal accounting of the trust. She also insisted that we distinguish evidence from suspicion.A photograph was not proof that Lucy was our daughter.A copied consent form was not the complete medical record. And Thomas’s account needed corroboration.Over the next several weeks, the separate pieces began to connect.Dr. Sutton obtained the surviving hospital records. They confirmed the emergency surgery and a failure to ensure that I understood it afterward. An explanation had been deferred, a follow-up missed, and everyone had assumed someone else had completed the conversation. My current symptoms were evaluated separately. They did not reveal a secret child. The old paperwork did that.Through formal records requests, Alice’s investigator traced the reference number to files retained by the fertility clinic’s successor. Those files identified a former records coordinator, Paula Finch, as someone who had handled the disputed paperwork. When contacted, Paula admitted sending the envelope. She had found our disposal instruction alongside a later donation authorization carrying different-looking signatures. Transfer records showed an em::bryo from our stored group had been released for treatment involving Kessler’s wife. The photograph came from a birth announcement Kessler had circulated among clinic staff.“When I questioned him, he threatened my job and accused me of falsifying the file,” Paula said. “I sent copies to Thomas because I was afraid to make a formal complaint.”She had kept copies of both instructions. Her fear had helped preserve the secret, too. This time, she gave a signed statement and agreed to cooperate with investigators.Kessler’s widow, Miriam, met us at Alice’s office. She brought a folder of treatment records and correspondence.“I was told the em::bryo had been freely donated,” she said. “I believed my husband.”“Did you know our names?”“Not until after he died.”By then, she had discovered suspicious financial records as well. The trust allowed support for my father’s biological grandchildren, including those living in another household. Kessler had submitted documents identifying Lucy as one of those beneficiaries. With them were for:ged acknowledgments claiming that Thomas and I knew about the arrangement and wanted our identities kept confidential from the recipient family.Kessler approved distributions. Grant prepared the accounts. Some money paid legitimate expenses for Lucy. Much more went to companies the 2 men controlled. The summaries sent to me concealed those payments under fal:se descriptions. After Kessler died in 2014, a replacement trustee took over and changed the payment arrangements. But the earlier transactions had not received an independent examination. Grant’s subsequent threats helped keep anyone from demanding one.Kessler had wanted a child with his wife. He had also used that child to steal from my father’s trust. When I began questioning earlier financial irregularities in late 2007, Grant approached me under a fal:se name.Correspondence in Miriam’s folder confirmed his assignment: find out what I suspected, obtain copies of my papers, and keep me from seeking independent advice. The affair gave him greater access—and leverage.Reading those messages did not erase my betrayal of Thomas. It stripped away the last illusion that the man I betrayed him for had ever loved me.“Why didn’t you contact us when you found our names?” I asked Miriam.“My husband left letters saying you had consented and then become unstable. I wanted to believe him.”She looked down at her hands.“I was afraid of losing Lucy.”“You let me lose her instead.”Miriam began to cry.I didn’t comfort her.But when she asked how we should tell her daughter, I stayed in the room.Lucy deserved adults who could put her needs ahead of their fear.Miriam told her with help from a counselor.Lucy was 17, with several months left before her birthday. She knew she had been conceived using a donated em::bryo. She had never suspected that the consent might be fal:se.She asked for time. Then she agreed to genetic testing. The results confirmed that she was the biological child of both Thomas and me.Ethan was her full biological brother. When Alice told me, I asked her to repeat it.There was a daughter. Not a child secretly rescued from my lost pregnancy.A separate child, born from an em::bryo we had entrusted to a doctor who ignored our decision. She had grown up while I learned to live quietly in a guest bedroom. We met in August at a café beside a public garden.Lucy paused near the entrance. She had Thomas’s eyes.“Nora?”I stood.“Hello.”“Is it okay if I call you that?”“Of course.”We talked about school. She liked art, hated mushrooms, and was tired of people asking what she planned to do with her life. Then she asked, “Did you know about me?”“Not until this summer.”“Thomas knew.”“He had reason to suspect. He has to answer for what he did with that information.”She turned her cup slowly.“Are you angry with my mom?”“Yes.”Her shoulders stiffened.“But you’re allowed to love her,” I added. “You don’t have to stop loving anyone to know me.”Lucy looked down.“She was there when I was sick. She came to everything.”“I know.”“I don’t want all of that to become a lie.”“It doesn’t have to.”After a while, she asked whether I had pictures of Ethan as a child.I took an envelope from my bag.She smiled at the first photograph.“He has my ears.”“He still does.”Her laugh was small and surprised.I carried the sound home with me.By then, home was a rented apartment near Ethan.Thomas asked me to reconsider when I filed for divorce.“I know I failed you,” he said.“I failed you, too.”“We could try now.”I looked at the man I had once loved enough to imagine growing old beside him.“We could have tried 18 years ago. Or we could have separated honestly.”He lowered his head.“My affair didn’t give you the right to keep my medical history from me,” I said. “And your fear didn’t give you the right to decide whether I could know my daughter.”He did not contest the separation. The investigation continued. Grant denied wrongdoing. The trust’s historical payments were examined, and Alice warned me that old records and a dead principal offender would make parts of the case difficult. There would be no quick hearing that returned every stolen year.I continued anyway.Thomas gave investigators his documents. He also met Lucy, who asked questions he could only answer by admitting his failures.Their relationship was theirs to decide.Ethan began getting to know his sister, too. Sometimes their conversations were hesitant. Sometimes they discovered the same stubborn habit in each other and laughed. We stopped trying to make every meeting repair the past.It was enough to have another meeting.Lucy turned 18 in October.A few weeks later, she came to my apartment carrying pastries and a small print she had made.“For that wall,” she said, pointing beside the window. We hung it together. While I made tea, she sat at the kitchen table.“Are you disappointed that I don’t know what to call you yet?”I put down the kettle.“No.”“Sometimes I think I should—”“You don’t owe me a word before you’re ready.”She watched me for a moment, then reached for a pastry. We spent the afternoon talking about her university applications. When she left, she paused at the door.“Next Sunday?”“I’d like that.”She hugged me briefly, awkwardly, entirely of her own accord.Afterward, I noticed that the print we had hung was slightly crooked.I left it for us to fix together.

Breaking Bad's RJ Mitte: The Heartbreaking Details His Mother Revealed New

Breaking Bad's RJ Mitte: The Heartbreaking Details His Mother Revealed

Breaking Bad alum RJ Mitte’s mother, Dyna Mitte, is mourning the death of her son. “We all go through some heartbreak in our life and we all deal with it differently,” Dyna told NBC News on Thursday, October 15. “If I had known anything and could have done anything different, I truly would have. I would have given my life for his life.” Us confirmed on Monday, October 12, that RJ had died by suicide. He was 34. According to Dyna, she spent time with RJ days before his death. After the mother-son duo’s weekend together, Dyna claimed that she called the actor on Monday morning but didn’t receive a response. “I called him at 11. He didn’t answer,” she recalled to NBC. “I picked up lunch and went to take it to him, and that’s when I discovered him.” Dyna said she had no knowledge of her son’s mental health struggles and claimed he never saw a therapist. “For the last three months, I’d been offering for him to go to therapy, trying to get him to go there, but he was like, ‘No, I’ve got it. It’s OK. I’m handling it,’” she alleged, urging other parents to watch for signs with their own children. “There has to be a way to let them know to step back and to get that help.” RJ, who was diagnosed with a mild form of cerebral palsy at the age of 3, acted in projects such as One Eye Open, Talking to Strangers, The Unseen and Switched at Birth. He’s best known for playing Bryan Cranston’s son on Breaking Bad. “Breaking Bad was an incredible, incredible experience for my son,” Dyna shared. “He truly, truly loved each and every cast member, each and every crew member. I couldn’t have asked for him to learn from anyone better.” She continued, “He was a great actor. He was my son. He was an activist, a philanthropist ... I just want him to be remembered for all the wonderful things he’s done in life, and all the people he’s impacted.” Since RJ’s death, Breaking Bad actors including Cranston, 70, and Aaron Paul have offered their condolences to Dyna and her family. “It was an incredible, emotional conversation for both of us,” she told NBC. The $62M Controversy: How Two Groups Transformed Minnesota New

The $62M Controversy: How Two Groups Transformed Minnesota

Two church non-profits have taken in at least $62 million to build the Somali community in Minnesota — leading to the rise of Ilhan Omar and the fraud scandals that have gripped that state, The Post can reveal.Catholic Charities and Lutheran Social Services were at the forefront of reshaping the frigid Land of 10,000 Lakes thanks to generous government contracts stemming back generations.“This is a very big pile of government money and a whole bunch of different groups have come to get their own slice of it,” Parker Thayer, an immigration expert at the Washington, DC-based Capital Research Center, told The Post.Sawo Kwao sings and waves the Somali flag awaiting the arrival of Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud in Minneapolis on Dec. 15, 2022. Star Tribune via Getty ImagesHe added the total money pouring into Minneapolis resettlement programs alone is “in the hundreds of millions.”He noted that since 2021, the US Conference of Catholic Bishops, the body overseeing Catholic Charities, has received $140 million in migrant resettlement contracts from the federal government.“It is hurting the ability of these organizations to fundraise in arguably more important areas of their work. I imagine a lot of donors are being pushed away by something that is very reasonably viewed as highly controversial by a lot of people,” Thayer said. Before Minnesota became Somali central, it was known as the Hmong hub.The state first became a test ground for a Vietnam-era resettlement program — with powerful advocacy from then-Vice President Walter Mondale and Minnesota’s Democrat governor Al Quie, according to local historians.“Squad” Rep. Courtesy of Kelsey Reinhard“A lot of these people, while claiming to be refugees, you look at their Facebook pages, or you look at indictments and find that they routinely travel out of the US back to the place they are supposedly a refugee from,” he added. The Biden administration oversaw the largest jump in living memory of migrant resettlement operations.Minnesota has been a flashpoint in the controversial effort, where a gob-smacking $9 billion in estimated welfare fraud, largely stemming from the Somali community, was uncovered in the last year — speculated to be the largest welfare scam in the history of the US.On Monday, the home of Democrat congresswoman Ilhan Omar, a native Somalian whose district includes Minneapolis’s “Little Mogadishu,” was raided by federal immigration officials as part of a criminal investigation.“They’re creating multiple problems by resettling large numbers of people in one area at the same time they’re creating isolated ethnic enclaves across America, which seem to be causing some cultural problems,” Thayer said.A spokesperson for Catholic Charities Twin Cities said they closed their refugee and immigrant programs in 2018. Lutheran Social Services of Minnesota did not respond to a request for comment.

Heartfelt Tribute: '9-1-1: Nashville' Honors Chad Lowe's Daughter Fiona New

Heartfelt Tribute: '9-1-1: Nashville' Honors Chad Lowe's Daughter Fiona

The 9-1-1: Nashville season 2 premiere featured a solemn tribute to Chad Lowe’s daughter Fiona, who died by suicide last month. “In Loving Memory,” read a title card shown at the end of the Thursday, October 15, episode, alongside Fiona’s name and photo. Chad, 58, has directed multiple episodes of both 9-1-1: Nashville and 9-1-1: Lone Star, which starred his brother Rob Lowe. He also portrayed Rob’s onscreen brother in a brief arc. (9-1-1: Lone Star aired for five seasons until its cancellation in 2025.) News broke in September that Chad’s daughter had died. She was 13. “We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona,” Chad and wife Kim Painter wrote in a joint statement, calling Fiona “a loving young girl who was smart, creative and loved to dance.” They continued at the time, “She was adored by her sisters and she was deeply loved by her parents. In fact, she was the light of our lives. Her passing is devastating for our entire family and we ask for prayers and privacy at this time. If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health, please reach out to the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988.” Chad and Painter, 52, are also parents of daughters Mabel, 17, and Nixie, 10. Mabel has since been candid about grieving the loss of her sibling. “I love you so much, Fiona ❤️. I wish your short time here was easier and I hope your mind is at ease now,” she wrote via Instagram on October 3. “I will honor you forever and keep your memory alive. I love you, I hope you knew just how much.” Neither Chad nor Painter have further addressed Fiona’s death, with the Pretty Little Liars alum returning to social media on October 8 to repost a candid message about grief and healing. “We both possess the human and the divine,” Gerry Hussey said during a 2025 appearance on the “Of Healing” podcast, which Lowe shared via his Instagram Stories earlier this month. “Through consciousness and awareness when we awaken the peaceful observer and we get beyond our physical human emotions and our physical human needs and the needs of the ego, and we just let go and we release all that and we connect to a feeling, that is the divine frequency.” Two days after his social media return, Chad and Painter attended nephew Matthew Lowe’s wedding to now-wife Emily Markus. If you or someone you know is struggling or in crisis, help is available. Call or text 988 or chat at 988lifeline.org. 9-1-1: Nashville airs on ABC Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET.
